Our Stories continues … please answer the following questions. Remember, at the end of Lesson 2, your main character asked your wise character why we and others often harm each other. The wise character explained that in the beginning, we disobeyed God who is love. Also, remember that our numbers are like the page numbers of our future book, so please keep the numbering shown in order to stay organized.
Write Your Story
7. After learning about the Fall, what will your character ask? For example, your character might say, “Is there anything we can do?” or “Will it always be like that?”
8. Your wise character says yes and explains. It’s important for your wise character to say that we cannot save ourselves, but we need a savior. For example: God is love, and so yes, of course, God allowed a problem but also created a remedy. We must be saved by grace through faith. We cannot save ourselves because we do not have the power to do that, but God can save us.
9. Your main character asks why we cannot save ourselves. How will your wise character respond? Here are some ideas: Your wise character might gently discuss how we are all sinning all the time, and so it is very hard for one of us to break away from that. For example, if just one of us wants to be more beautiful, richer or more powerful than others, this idea will spread to most everyone and affect everything we do from the words we speak to the foods we eat to the businesses we choose to create. Your wise character might also suggest how small we are in the cosmos and how short our lives are and how many mistakes we tend to make. Your wise character also might say that having a Father in heaven is a great thing! Also, creation itself shows our father’s endless wisdom and joy.
10. Your main character asks: How does God save us?
11. How does your wise character respond? Here are some ideas: God is real and just and true. Whenever we hurt others, it’s very terrible to God who loves all of us. Just like people who steal or do violent things have to go to jail, something must happen to us for all the intentionally mean things we do. We also harm others indirectly but significantly when we ignore the poor and the sick among us. God has to punish us because He does not lie and must do what is right, but instead of punishing each of us, He sent His son, Jesus, to take our punishment. When He did that, He also showed us what love is.

Saved by Grace Through Faith
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. Ephesians 2:4-10
Jesus Took the Punishment for Our Sins
And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.” Matthew 26:27-28
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 1 Peter 2:24
See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. 1 John 3:1
